After 51 years of putting up with very skew upper and lower teeth, I decided that it was time to do something about this. I was referred to North Shore Orthodontics by a friend. The recommendation from Dr John Shennan was that was that full orthodontics was the only way to fix my teeth properly. The initial consultation process was very clear and informative. This made it easy to make the decision to go ahead. As part of the process, I was also referred to another specialist for pre-treatment and a few teeth extractions (too many teeth and overcrowding). I received excellent advice to have less visible (porcelain) braces brackets which worked out well for an adult who preferred to be more discreet. Many people I met did not notice that I even had full braces for the past few years. My experience with Dr John Shennan and the Team at North Shore Orthodontics was excellent, as described below. Were very patient with my difficult case being a mature patient, with a lot of work required to straighten my very skew teeth. Time and patience were required to get the result given a more established mouth / teeth than a younger person. Persevered, and would not accept anything less that an excellent outcome. Highly skilled. I was so impressed with the expertise and ability to adapt the treatment to how my teeth responded. Adapted treatment to match changes in my teeth and mouth. I always felt that my treatment was in expert hands. I finally had my braces off on 15 December 2022. I am absolutely delighted with the outcome, and can hardly believe the result. Straight, aligned, and awesome teeth. I keep stopping to look in the mirror. A few of my adult work colleagues have already said …wow, now I’m inspired to get my teeth fixed. My two daughters had braces and now have great teeth as well. I always felt that orthodontics is one of the best gifts that a parent can provide to their children. I now feel the same about this being a gift which us adults can give to ourselves. (PS. Note to all adults – kids look away – braces don’t impact kissing in any way – kids can look again). Children / young adults, be grateful to your parents and your Orthodontist for this amazing privilege. Follow treatment instructions, and stop complaining about early morning appointments (I have heard many of you at the reception desk). You can do it :). I highly recommend North Shore Orthodontics to anyone considering getting their teeth fixed. I could not be happier with the process and outcome. How thrilled we all are with the result that John Shennan of North Shore Orthodontics has made to our grandson's teeth. During the two years there has never been even one complaint from our grandson, that anything was even mildly hurting. John's orthodontic excellence shows daily in our grandson's wonderful smile, so we are indebted, indeed, to John and his team. Even though we had to travel from the southern side of the Auckland Harbour Bridge, the end result is so worth it, that we'd encourage future patients to do the same. How grateful we are. 25 Nov 2024 - Once again, we have had another grandson attending John Shennan - North Shore Orthodontics, for correction of his teeth. The 2 year result is absolutely wonderful, and happiness in the patient is shown constantly, even when he is not smiling. I'd have loved to have had similar work done on my protruding teeth when I was a teenager, but orthodontic work and excellence was still in its infancy, all that time ago. A huge advantage in selecting John Shennan has been that he is the sole Orthodontist at North Shore Orthodontics, meaning all appointments are with him only, rather than any juggling with with extra members of staff. Thus the prime intention rules. John Shennan has been a real gift to our grandsons.
